Inside the Studio of Making a Hit Track. Dead Presidents by Jay Z
The best way of getting better at making your own beats is to learn from the ones who have been succesful at it. As with anything.
Music production video: Ski beatz explaining the making of the beat for Jay z’s dead presidents.
let’s get into this. First of all the equipment. Back in the 90s, we used to use the st 1200 with the aka s950. Those two pieces together was the shit. Basically. I used to use the sp for my drums and the 950 for the samples. What I did dead presidents that’s what i used. Of course I GOT MY SAMPLE. fOR you that don’t know.
I basically chopped that off with the 950 and all the with the SP 1200. I got my drums from a track called quest remix featuring Bustah rhymes. Hi hat. And kick.Back then we use to swing the drums with the triplets. That was the groove back there. I actually got inspired to make dead presidents when I heard NAS the world is yours. So I sampled NAS voice. Back then I couldn’t play the bass and I didn’t have a keyboard. So we use the filter. And of course it was a classic, you know what I mean. SO basically that was what happened for the making of dead presidents.
It wasn’t really too much but taht S432 was hot. All the producers who want to check me out go to ski beatz dot com.
