Starting a Record label or Sign up with a Major Record Label? (video)

Are you wandering how to start your own record label? It might be better to do it on your own than signing up with one.

Just came across this excellent video from Music Millionaires. Here is a down to earth explanation on what it means to be signed by a record label. Many newbies and upcoming artists so not understand how music labels work. Truth is, you don’t need to be signed by a major record label when you can do all the work yourself, and get 100% from the profits. Looking into making money with your own music? watch this.

Record label explained.

From the video:

Let me introduce you to another music video lesson.
What we attempt to do here is to teach new up and coming and existing artists how to capitalize on their music without using a major record label.

And we are basically trying to answer questions and at least give you some information that will help you get to the point to where you are making money off your music and you are having your business the correct way.
Just for reference we are tha piecemakerz. Google us to find out who and what we are. We are currently working with Dr Dre. Working on the detox album. We’ve worked with such artists like Sean Kingston, currently Flo-rider, Danielle Jones, and many many more. Enough about us.

We are song writers, producers, engineers, vocal coach, you name it. With that being said let’s talk about how to capitalize your music online.

The first thing we want you to understand is that in looking for a major record label, all you are looking for is a bank. A record label is basically a bank. You are trying to convince them to give you a “loan.” That loan that you are asking for is to fund your video projects, promotions, production, etc.
So when you are being signed by a record label that’s technically what you are doing. And in retrospect what you are doing you are also saying: I’m OK with a percentage of the profits to go to the bank for funding this investment. That’s what you are, an investment. So, the first thing that you need to comprehend (new and existing artists) is that you are a project or a product that the bank found worthy enough to invest in. So if you are getting signed, potentially being signed.. congratulations. You past some of the “requirements” and certain tests for this banks.

The biggest misconceptions that a lot of artists are getting is that they can’t do this themselves. You have all the resources, except maybe financially to do exactly what the majors are going to do. If you are in the game you know what I am talking about.

First of, if you haven’t already, make sure to sign up with ASCAP or BMI or SESAC. I prefer ASCAP (personal preference). But make sure to do this first.
You can go to our website: musicmillionaires.tk for a free book on this and more info. We’ve put up a video explaining the difference between ascap and this publishing companies, and why you need to be signed.

You can do everything the major labels do, for yourself. Outside of shaking hands and signing other artists, you can get all the profits, 100% which is every business’ goal. That’s the difference between the rich and the wealthy. Or those who are working or those who are not. If you signed with a major label you are going to be dependent of them. What also happens is that, as with every business, if you are dependent on anhy business you are also dependent on their strategies. You believe that they are going to do good business and consistent. So if they have issues or problems, then what do you do?

I want to help you be in control of your music career.. and one way to do it is to promote your own music. So I’ll explain some ways of doing that.

1st- Get a web presence, some kind of web presence. The web is considered an online store and it’s the only store that stays open 24/7 every day. There are many ways to do that. Some people believe it takes money in order to do this, but that’s of course false. A lot of resources are free. Start with a web domain. Also, if you can’t afford a web domain you can get a free one like dot tk..
