How to Find Samples to Make Your Own Beats?
Wandering where and how to find a sample?
Sampling and Making an East Coast beat.
Rap & Hip Hop rapper 7 producer Frederick “Freddy B” Burchell will explain what it takes to sample. In this case, focusing in “orchestra” sounds to make an east coast type of beat, Basically, just listen, listen, and listen to cds or loop cds… until you find an inspiration. Not only that, but pay attention when you listen. All you need could be a 10 second loop from a long track that otherwise (if you had not listen) you would’ve missed!

Let’s talk about finding a sample.
Many of the east coast beats are vary sample-oriented. Just think of tracks from Kanye West, RZA and others. Actually most hip hop in general a lot of samples are included.
What I’ve noticed when it comes to East Coast beats, at least the east coast beats that I sell tehy have a lot of “orchestra” in them. So what I’ve done in the past is buying orchestra CDs. Just go to a record store or online and find orchestra sounds. You can buy orchestra CDs or buy loop CDs with this orchestra sounds in them.
Just listen to them until you find that beat that catches your attention. Sometimes you just can tell once you hear a sound that it’s catchy. Pay attention when you are listening to samples because you can miss a whole song or loop from a beat you are trying to make. Just be very attentive when listening to samples before trying to make that east coast beat.
Listen to this orchestra sample that I found. I actually liked a few samples from a song and what I did was chopping it and put it together into a beat.
Here’s the orchestra sound that I found. What happened was that I was listening all day for “that” sample that I would totally like. I kept listening and what I actually ended up liking was a short ten second sample at one part of this song (the track is probably about 5 minutes). Once I found that part I knew it was the one I wanted to sample and loop for my beat. Listen to this sample.
It doesn’t sound like much at the beginning. How is it going to work? I will show you right now (video above)
I also found another part of the same song, which has nothing to do with the first one, but I tried to combine them and come up with something original. And now I have my east coast beat. That’s it, that’s all you have to do. Take the time to listen until you find that sound that will inspire you.

Can you just “steal” beats and samples to create your own track?
Well, you probably have noticed that everyone is sampling and now more than ever. The thing is that there are different ways to sample. If you want to create your own original beats just get creative in modifying your samples. I am not talking about the way Pitbull and others sample. Most likely he has to pay royalties to the original producers who create the beats he samples and adds vocals to. If you use the samples for inspiration into creating your own original work, most people wouldn’t recognize the original loop or where it came from. Add effects, delay, chop a part here and there, etc. But more importantly… Have fun!
