Have you been wandering how does Pitbull makes hit after hit after hit? I personally have been since the first time I started to listen to pitbull and he basically just answered this question on the video. Which is exactly the same way I see it. The key?: Keep it simple.
In my opinion, his formula is also very simple: He samples (gets inspired?) from hot “house” & ‘tribal” beats that have that “catchy” sound. Add some catchy lyrics, doesn’t really matter much what you say and there you have it. That’s one of the main ways he does it. Crossovering genres. But anyways, just let him explain it to you.

As far as in the music business, a lot of people try to over think things. They over think shit. Simplicity is the key of success. When you are making a record, you gotta think: What would be catchy on my view?
On calle ocho, alright, one of the biggest records of the year last year, around the world I see that the biggest part of the record wasn’t I know you want me. It was “One, two three four, uno, dos, tres cuatro”
I’m in an airport in Mexico, I just came from Mexico and Guatemala. A little kid was like” oh, that is the one, two, three ,four man, you know?
SO, when you are making records, when you are writing records you gotta think what’s gonna be catchy. The reason why I love making club records is because they are a lot of fan. Street records & rap records, that’s my hobby. I love doing hip hop, I love to rap and shit. But, when you are in the club, you don’t wanna hear rap. I was at the blue martini.. no, martini bar.. I always go to the back of the bar. And I’m watching the people, watching the people and so, they have this booty shaking contest you know, miami being notorious for that, so.. which by the way, this girl had an amazing ass.
And I listene” pam pam pam pam pam pam” just horns, so simple. That’s how Hotel Room came out.
I get asked all these different questions all the time, the dumbest idea is not trying. You gotta come to the studio come up with the beat, I heard this vocals here, this beat here. That’s the shit that makes big records. The producers like Jim Johnson, Pharrel, Timbaland, Lil Jon, all these great producers what they do is they have the artist go in there and then they arrange it. So the magic is in the arrangement of the record. The lady gaga bad romance, I don’t know what she says in the fucking song, but I do know RA RA RA AH AH AH, ROMA RO MA MA, GAGA OOH LA LA, that’s the beginning of the record, and that what music is. So when you are making a record , just remember that simplicity is the key of success, don’t over think it. Have fun and do it because you love it. Amen
