Making beats with the “Beat Maker” app for the iphone and combining it with the Neko keyboard/computer.

Hi this is Matt Presley with open labs, and I’m gonna show you what I got here. Is an iphone with an app loader called beat maker. Beat maker lets me take sounds I got in my neko, load it in their sampler and sequence with it when i cant take my keyboard with me.

Let me give you a quick tour and show you how it works.
I’m going to press the load button first. I’m gonna go to “my content” and I’ve taken some patches out of few of my plugins and I’ve made a kit out of them. There’s lots of content on the NEKO, and there two things I like using so i’m going to take them with me.

I just loaded the kit. I’m gonna go here to my pad section. Ive got multi pads, I can hit up to 5 things at one. I got the bass I got some sound. All the basic stuff. To start recording is very simple. Press the record button and now we will be recording in pattern. I’m gonna record pattern 1. To bring the transport up, simply tap this corner here. I’m gonna turn loop mode on, so I can overdub and just hit record. I got a basic snyth batch.
I can stop one pattern. I can hit a new pattern and make another one. For this demonstration I’m just gonna leave it like this for now. The cool thing is that once I get an idea with this I can get home and download it to my NEKO. I’m in front of my Neko tsc edition. I’m gonna translate it to my neko. You do that with an app called beatpack. It turns your computer into a server. I press upload and know it sends the wave file here.
of course you can export on anything. Protools, q base you name it.

I did the beat at 120 so I set the sequencer at 120, now I can loop and edit away!
